Overview

The GIS Analyst is responsible for contributing to various national telecom projects and all associated efforts. Responsibilities will include: analyzing efficient routing and construction techniques for feasibility, digitizing physical features for base map purposes, determining and digitizing the right of way from plansets, labeling and dimensioning permits for submittal, and coordinating with team members. The analyst is also expected to collaborate with team members and management to meet timelines and ensure project success.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate GIS knowledge and can apply it to our projects with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Perform office technical services for the design and/or analysis of fiber networks and long haul communication projects.
  • Utilize various software in the performance of the work and learn software features and apply them correctly for speed and efficiency.
  • Develop a basic knowledge of general Fiber Optic network design for both city deployment and long haul connections, as well as telecom utility construction standards
  • Develop root understanding of other city/county utility design and implications to fiber routing.
  • Utilize various software to identify and access quality routing options.
  • Locate and identify efficiencies and basic cost assessments to previously mapped routes.
  • Offer alternative solutions to design when efficacies can be gained or cost savings can result.
  • Gathers field data for use in various mapping applications
  • Communicates effectively with other team/project members.
  • Is reliable and dependable to complete assignments accurately and on time.
  • Able to take direction and work closely with the team to identify and communicate challenges and recommended process improvements.
  • Accuracy, quality and completeness and schedule adherence can be independently maintained by you, and measured by others
  • Maintains a professional appearance and demonstrates courtesy and ability to work with others in the office

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Geography or equivalent experience is required. Geographic Information Systems certificate preferred.
  • Computer/GIS/RF/science & engineering-type background and/or experience preferred.
  • Electrical, communication utility (phone or cable company) and RF background is ideal but not required.
