  • Overview

    The Civil Project Engineer (PE) is responsible for the timely and accurate completion of assigned Site Development projects. The PE assures the client shall receive the designs and opinions described in the contract between the firm and the client and that the cost of the project shall be within established budgets.

     

     

    Responsibilities

    • Prepares proposal estimates of time and expense required to complete the project.
    • May participate in presenting the proposal to the client.
    • Participates in selecting the project team.
    • Determines major project design decisions in conjunction with client and architect, such as setbacks, location of roadways, storm drains, sewer and other utility routes, etc.
    • Assigns duties to project team, answers their questions, and monitors their progress.
    • Checks accuracy of completed work.
    • Maintains close relationship with client throughout development of project.
    • May assist client in selecting contractors.
    • May monitor construction.
    • Approve change orders.
    • May be required to collect fees from client.
    • May be required to maintain client contact after project is completed.

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
    • Must be a licensed Engineer.
    • Must have at least 5+ years’ experience in the design of civil projects.
    • Must be proficient in computer aided design.
    • Experience in the Development/Public Works/Utilities Industry preferred
    • Physical working requirements - Ability to travel, driving personal vehicle including at night. Ability to do occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs. Able to walk up stairs. Ability to work flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends. Employee is subject to outside environmental conditions occasionally; inside conditions frequently, with protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature change.
